Merry Christmas!
When your first stop picking up ingredients for baking is the liquor store, you know it’s going to be a good week. And when the recipe calls for a pound of butter (that’s an entire 4 stick box), you know it’s going to be that much better.
Law school exam period is this weird time where days stop having meaning and everything you do is with the goal of simply surviving. I get up, go to the library, come home, sleep, and repeat. It could be Saturday or Tuesday for all I know.
Procrastibaking: the act of baking 4 batches of cookies rather than opening your notes to study for final exams. (Thanks, Pete, for the new word.) That is what I engaged in this weekend.
Things you probably wanted before Thursday: a solid traditional dessert recipe for your Thanksgiving meal. Things I didn’t make this year: a solid traditional dessert recipe for my Thanksgiving meal.
I don’t know why I have this idea in my head, but I firmly believe that anything baked in a bundt pan is breakfast food. I will never take my electric mixer for granted again. I don’t even feel bad about using a breakfast recipe this week after the feat I undertook to make these pancakes. True dedication to your craft is hand-whisking egg whites until stiff peaks form. I feel like this is a big milestone in my baking career.
I made the (great) mistake of starting Stranger Things this weekend. As far as things to watch during Halloweekend, I think I picked well, but as far as a full weekend of baking adventures, I only ended up with time for one.
As promised, the pumpkin trend continues. It almost feels like cheating to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin bundt cake, and pumpkin donuts as separate posts, since for me they all serve the same general function: putting pumpkin in some kind of carb-heavy vessel. But hey, when you’ve been blogging for 3 years, you’re going to have to eventually do some stuff that’s kinda similar.
