I’m pretty sure my roommate buys bananas exclusively so that I’ll turn them into banana bread. They sit in our fruit bowl, largely untouched, until there are only three left and they’re all brown. At which point I don’t really have a choice in the matter, since my banana bread recipe just happens to call for exactly three overripe bananas.
At some point this summer, I became obsessed with figs. I think it may have had to do with a flatbread I had at a bar and went back for 3 separate times. So when I was at the supermarket this week and saw that they had figs that you could buy by the box, I couldn’t resist.
Every once in awhile I make something that falls solidly into the category of too good. Usually, I know it’s coming, and I plan accordingly. For example, I know that I’m addicted to Magic Bars, so I made them while I was at my parents’ for a short period of time, knowing I could leave them behind.
My boyfriend was visiting for the weekend again this weekend, and earlier this week he sent me a link for a whole wheat biscuit recipe he wanted to try, asking if it would work for my blog. I love biscuits, but I also love sweets, so we compromised and made them into chocolate biscuits. Unlike my other recipes, these are actually pretty good for you (no butter!), but probably not in the quantity we decided to eat them.
